    YEARS OF EXPERIENCE

Have you not yet visited Kleftiko, the cave of Sykia, Cape Vani or even the island of Poliegos? Do you want to swim in the crystal clear waters of the bay of Gerakas and the beach of Gerontas? You are in the right place!

The Municipality of Milos, in cooperation with the Milos Hunting Club, is launching new initiatives to protect animals and raise awareness about responsible pet ownership. The goal is to reduce the stray population and ensure every companion animal is treated with care and respect.

According to Law 4830/2021, every pet owner must either sterilize their animal or submit a DNA sample to the national database (EFAGYZS). As of July 1, 2025, inspections will begin under Law 5143/2024, and fines will be issued as follows:

  • €1,000 per animal not sterilized or lacking DNA submission

  • €300 per animal without microchip or not registered in the National Pet Registry (EMZS)

Fines may be reissued every three months if the owner fails to comply.

To help residents, a DNA collection initiative will be organized with veterinarians visiting Milos. Interested pet owners must register at the Milos Citizen Service Center (KEP) by May 31, 2025 (tel: +30 22870 22894).

Participation Cost:

  • Hunting Dogs: 40€ government fee (code 4749) + 10€ DNA submission

  • Other Pets: 70€ government fee (code 4748) + 10€ DNA submission

Milos continues to lead by example in animal welfare, while also offering visitors the chance to enjoy unforgettable experiences like Milos cruises and renting a boat in Milos to explore the island's hidden gems.
